Looking for info on Michael Keaty, dob approximately 1867.  Lived in Brackyle, Grean, Limerick for both the 1901 and the 1911 census.  Married to Catherine (Ryan?) dob approx 1874.  They had 4 children, Margaret, Bridget, John, Timothy.  All but Bridget emmigrated to U.S.  Bridget may have died in 1913.  Michael's mother was Margaret, maiden name unknown.

Any leads appreciated.

  • Michele:

I found three civil index records which may be of interest. I found Bridget's death index record and she died in the last quarter of 1913. I found an 1867 birth index record for a Michael Keaty in the Tipperary registration district (which includes Grean civil parish). I also found an 1891 civil marriage index record for a Michael Keaty who married a Katie Fennelly in the Tipperary registration district. There were only two Michael Keaty marriage records in all of Ireland so this must be your Michael. You can get copies of any of these records from the General Register Office for around 4 euros each. If you plan to get copies, let me know and I will forward instructions.

  • Thank you so much for replying.  The info you posted confirmed what I had or assumed so far about the family.  I believe that my Michael was married to Katherine Fennelly as my aunt was named Katherine Fennelly (Finley, Finlay, depending upon source) Keaty.  Even though they lived in Limerick, I thought perhaps the marriage might have been registered in Tipperary.  The same assumption was made about Bridget's death.  I may have to go ahead and order the records to be sure.  I am hoping to find out more about Micheal/Katherine's extended familes.  I beleive I have both the father's names, but no siblings or their mother's maiden names.

    Thank you again for replying!
