My Ryans from Pallasgreen lived at Kilduff castle, Brackyle, Ballyluddy,  Garrannebeg, Clashbane, and other nearby townlands. A stone in the Old Pallas graveyard may be of my Ryans:

Erected by Jeremiah Ryan, Ballyluddy

In memory of his father Matthew Ryan

Son of Darby Ryan & Mary Kelly

Born 5th April 1806

Died 21 Jan 1896

Of his mother

Brisgid Raleigh

Daughter of Thomas Raleigh & Julia O'Shea

Born Feb 1811

Died 27 Mar 1884

Other Ryans & family are listed....does anyone know descendants of this family? The stone has insciptions on all sides, with the latest death being Michael Ryan, died 14 June 1962.

Any help appreciated!

  • Nancy,

I should not be surprised that our paths have crossed once again. I am still trying to research Mathew Ryan, died in 1855 per my family notes. His son, Hugh, emigrated to Evansville, IN (in 1848) if I recall. I just joined this site. I will come back and add additional information.
