  • Karina,

I believe Alice and Norah may have died young.

I think Dennis Rowan may have died about 1877 but not sure.

I do not have any detail on Thomas and Patrick - I believe Patrick was the eldest child.

I have been able to find descendants of James and Bridget.

Would like to connect with any other lines -but would also like to know more about Dennis and Honora (parents, siblings) and their life in Belmullet if possible.

  • Hi, Meghan,

I'm interested in your Gibbons girls-- did these marriages take place in Ireland?  Were Sarah and Margaret sisters?  I'm looking for connections to Hannah Gibbons who m. Michael Doherty before 1832, William Gibbons, who I believe is Hannah's brother, and Ann and Kate Gibbons who are William's daughters.  William married Bridget McGlynn/McGlenn.

Hannah and Michael's children included Patrick, the eldest, born in Church Hill, Donegal; William, b. 1849 in Donegal, and Hugh (I have no dates or places for him yet).  I think it likely that m gggrandmother Mary was their sister.  I have no info on the origins of any of the Gibbonses.

Ann and Kate emigrated to USA in about 1850 (or so they told the census taker), showing up in Pittsburgh, PA in 1870 and remaining until Ann's death in 1915.  A Rose Gibbons, b. 1866 came to live with Ann in about 1900.

Patrick, William and Hugh emigrated to Victoria, Australia, Patrick dying in 1916, the other two before him.

    Any bells ringing?

  • Hi Meghan

Check out the Griffith's Valuation 1855, there's a Denis Ruane there, I remember his name when I was checking out James Meenaghan (Menaghan).

    Cheers
