With thanks to Roger McDonnell for pointing me to the right message board and helping with some records already, I'm asking here if anyone has information on the O'Brien farm in Kildimo.

I'm researching this family for my brother-in-law and family, who descend from Aileen (O'Brien) Shawyer through her daughter Margaret "Peggie" (Shawyer) Beresford and her daughter Anne (Beresford) Gallagher. Aileen arrived in the U.S. c1909 and settled in Rhode Island, and the line I'm following stayed in New England (living throughout the years in RI, Connecticut, and Massachusetts). I know that O'Briens remained on the farm in Kildino in Peggie's lifetime, as she was in correspondence with family there. Does anyone know if the family still is there? Would someone have a photo of the farm they could share? I have one photo of Aileen in her older years, but would love to have any other documentation of her early life.

Thank you for your work on Ireland XO -- I have had a wonderful experience whenever I have posted questions on the various boards here.

  • Hi Janet!

Elwyn and I were very glad to assist you. I'm posting your prior message as background for anyone viewing this message. I checked and we do not have a parish liasion in Kildimo. Hopefully someone will see your message and comment.

  • Thank you. I believe you are correct that this census is the family I am researching. Do you know if there still is family on that farm? I'm hoping to connect with descendents of this family, if possible. Thanks again!

  • Wow! This is great information. Thank you! I can't wait to share the information on current owner, the photo, and the document with Anne and her family.

Attached is a photo of Aileen O'Brien Shawyer and her daughter, Margaret Shawyer Beresford, if you are interested. If I can help with info on the U.S. side of the family, let me know.

    Thanks again,
    Janet
