Can you provide some dates?  The 1901 and 1911 censuses do not appear to have any Hegartys in the Kilmallock area. What year was your father born? I found birth index records in 1888 and 1916 for a James Hegarty in the Kilmallock area.

Below is the civil birth index record for a James Hegarty registered in the 3rd quarter of 1916 in the Kilmallock district. You can get a copy of this record (which will show the parents names and where they lived) from the General Register Office. A copy costs around 4 euros. Here is the link to print the form, fill it out and include the index record info and mail to the GRO. 

Do you know his father's name or his mother's maiden name?

P.S I beleive his Mother name was Nora...

Who was James's father ?? Was Willie a brother ?? You can search the Census your self at the website:
