John O'Halloran was born abt. 1805 and married Catherine O'Brien abt 1827.  Catherine was baptised on 13 Feb. 1807 at St. Michaels, father Bryan O'Brien, mother Mary Moloney. They had four children, Mary, Ellen bapt. St.Michaels 20 July 1829, Bridget abt. 1832  and Paul John  was bapt. 28 June 1832 at St.John's Limerick.

John O'Halloran was a corn and butter dealer who I thinkl died in 1837?? In 1854 the three girls immigrated to Australia followed by Paul in 1856. According to the passenger lists their father was dead (1854) and their mother was living in Limerick.

The girls were listed as farm servants whilst Paul was listed as being a farmer. I would like to know where they came from in Limerick. It appears that in their early lives they lived in the city close to where John as a corn and butter dealer carried on his employ. However as the girls were listed as farm servants and Paul as a farmer maybe after their fathers death they moved to the country. I have been researching these ancestors for 15 years and would dearly love to connect with any decendants . Pam Walton...Sydney

  • Thank you Col for your reply..

I hadn't noticed where there was a Bryan O'Brien in the Tithes before so I will try and chase that up. Looking at the Griffith's Valuation there is a Bryan O'Brien in Markey Alley North, Prior's Land, in Limerick City. Maybe Bryan moved to the city as he got older?? I can't get over the fact where the girls were listed as farm servants and Paul as a farmer in the passenger list in their immigration records. There is an O'Halloran and a Purcell in Shanaclogh Crecora, Limerick in the Griffiths both not listed with first names which indicate they are widows. I wonder if this is the farm that Paul worked on.

I have other assumptions in my mind for I feel there is a family connection other that the O'Brien and the O'Hallorans with the Purcell's, Moloney's and the Walsh's. I feel that widow Purcell and widow O'Halloran were sisters, obviously no facts to back this up.

I feel I should write some letters to the O'Halloran's listed in the phonebook- nothing ventured nothing  gained.

    Thank again,

    Pam
