where is John Daly

Greetings all,

I'm trying to find out what happened to my Great Grandfather John Daly born in November 1868 to John Daly snr. and Mary Hannan in Limerick. He married Kate O'Loughlin in 1888 in Limerick and had a son, Thomas (Captain Tom - old IRA), in 1890. Thereafter he disappeared. He is not found in the 1901 or 1911 census of Ireland and never returned to his family. There is a family rumour that he went to America - this would have been between 1890 and 1901. He was a sailor by trade. Unfortunately, there are many John Daly's of about the right age in the various records so it is not possible to identify him for sure. It's possible he may have gone to Buffalo, Eerie, New York in the US as his uncle Michael emigrated to this area in 1884.

I'm just hoping that this story rings a bell with someone out there and they may know something of my Great Grandfather John.
