Thank you in advance for any information you can give me. I have a church marriage record for Cornelius Collins and Mary Ryan for 2 February 1822. I would love to better understand where this would have taken place. Is the church still standing? Did people typically marry in the man's or woman's home parish. I am trying to determine where Cornelius and Mary would have lived before and after they were married. I have baptism records for their children from Pallasgreen & Templebredon. Is that close to Murroe Boher? My family is visiting Ireland in October and would love to see the area. Thank you again.

Hi Leslie
The marriage record always states the parish where the marriage took place but they could have lived elsewhere nearby.
It was common to marry in the parish where the bride resided yes in this case Murroe & Boher. Pallasgreen is about a 15 drive away from Murroe.
I can not be sure if the same church still exist, here is a link to all churches http://cashel-emly.ie/our-diocese/parishes/l-u/murroe-boher/
I will have a look at the landrecords and see where there were Collins families living in the nearby area

Hi again,
In 1828 there was a Cornelius Collins living in the townland of Cloghready in Templebredon Co.Limerick, see here http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/reels/tab//004625721/00…
Templebredon is about 25 minutes south of Murroe and very close to Pallasgreen
Hope this helps

Hi Leslie, no problem we are glad we were able to help. I just had another look at the landrecords and the Cornelius mentioned in my former post living in the townland of Cloghready, Templebredon is the only person with that name in a very large area, so there is a very good chance that this was your Cornelius

One more confused question if I may. I recently found a record in Griffith's Valuation for a Cornelius Collins listed in the Townland of Cloghaready, Parish Templebredon, but in County Tipperary, South Riding. How does this fit with the same townland and parish name in County Limerick?

Hi Leslie, the bounderies of Limerick and Tipperary were moved at the time, that is why :)
