My 3x great-grandfather Edmund O'Brien is buried in Abington Cemetery having died on 10 Jun 1868. He married Margaret Tucker in an unknown year having my 2x grandfather, Denis O'Brien, baptised in the parish of Murroe Boher in 1836.
The only other info I've found is a John O'Brien who was baptised in the same parish in 1833 whose parents were Edmund O'Brien and Bridget Tucker - potentially this is another child of Edmund and Margaret's, but the mother's name has been incorrectly recorded.
I cannot find any other records for this family - is there anybody who could help me?
Thanks so much in advance, Sally

Sally,
I have Tucker relatives from Murroe Boher ( Limerick) also. Wondering if we have any connections? I have been stuck on this branch for quite awhile with no luck

Hi Peggy
Lovely to hear from you.
I'll send you an email to see if we can work out if we have a connection.

Hi Sally and Peggy. I don't have any answers but maybe more family that tie in. My Edmund O'Brien was born Limerick in roughly 1845 (counting back from death record in New Zealand). His father was Thomas O'Brien (mother Nellie Fitzgerald). Edmond may have been born Limerick City, Limerick. The only mention of the parents' names is in Mitchellstown in the early 1830s when they had 3 daughters. John and Thomas are recurring family names, no Denis'. Other than that combo of parents names I have no Irish records I can pin point.

Hi Constance, Well. all I can say is Welcome to the club of not being able to pin point a connection. Sally & I both have Tucker information but have determined we are not connected. ( Through DNA testing) You on the other hand may connect with either of us. Sally actually does connect to an Edmund O'Brien and I have yet to find any relation to the O'Brien family from my Tucker branch. I am in Illinois, USA and am planning on getting back to my research after the holiday season. Good Luck and Happy Searching.

Hi Constance
Lovely to hear from you.
I hope that our O'Briens are connected but I'm not sure that they are...
Our O'Briens hailed from the townland Abington and we don't have any Thomas' in the family.
However, having said that, have you had your DNA done as my mother has and we can see if there's any connection that way...

Hi Sally and Peggy
Yes we have O'Brien DNA on Ancestry.com and Family Tree Finder (FTDNA). Edmund (born approx 1845) has a grandaughter that lives about 5 minutes from me. Yes it is true! I really need to try for her DNA. On FTDNA I have Y-DNA so I can just look at O'Brien paternal line - there are strong O'Brien DNA connections to Flaherty, Milliken and Doherty's among many other names (darn clans) - if they are familiar to you in DNA; and about 6 Tucker connections showing. Our Ancestry.com O'Brien DNA is overrun with Tucker connections but that shows all the maternal lines feeding in. The O'Brien DNA tested is my husbands and his mother's family has Tucker connections not too far back - I've now just discovered! In our tree we call Edmund Edward as that is what he used in later life. Have you both done Y-DNA testing on O'Brien? I still have the potential to get Shane's father's DNA which will be a generation closer to Ed. It was lovely to hear from you both.

Hi, I also did my DNA through Ancestry, which is how Sally & I figured out we were not related. What is your user name on Ancestry so we can see if we connect? I am PChrusciel1, I have many matches on there that I am unsure how we are related. So maybe we are. I am stuck in the mid 1800's and am having trouble coming forward with the family records. My Tucker family was also from Abington as is Sally's.

I looked through my matches and do not see a Connie OBrien. I do see a Dennis OBrien that is only 20cm. Any other OBrien is less than 8cm. It doesn't look like we are genetically related.
