Researching my great-great grandfather Robert Drury (1812-1898) son of Anthony Drury and Catherine (maiden name unk.) (1788-1865).

He was born in Nantinen and emigrated with his mother and sister to Ontario Canada in 1842 where he set up a harnessmaking business in Almonte Ontario. He was a prominent member of the local Methodist church.

Really would like to find out his mother`s maiden name, Anthony`s relevant dates, or any other info possible.

  • Hi Ron
I assume you have seen this rootsireland record:
Name: Robert William Ormsby Drury Date of Birth: 29-Mar-1814
    Date of Baptism: 03-Apr-1814
    Address: Parish/District: RATHKEALE
    Gender: Male County Co. Limerick
    Denomination: Church Of Ireland
    Father: Anthony Drury Mother: Catherine
    Occupation: Shoemaker

I wonder if this could be the marriage?
    Date of Marriage: 15-Jan-1800
Parish / District: RATHKEALE County: Co. Limerick
    Husband Wife
    Name: Andrew Drury Catherine Faught
    Address: Rathkeale
Denomination: Church Of Ireland Church Of Ireland
    Occupation: ROSCOMMON MILITIA

Roscommon Militia & Andrew not Anthony - maybe not?
However religion & parish are correct.

  • Hello Col,

Yes I had seen those. The birth record is correct but I don't beleive the marriage one is them. Even on Robert's sister Catherine's birth record (1823) it lists Anthony as her father.

I am also assuming he had died since he didn't come to Canada with them in 1842.

I don't know what other resources there are for Nantinan searches.

p.s. see attached pic of Robert Drury's harness shop in Almonte Ontario in 1866, I beleive that is him on the left
