Attached is an image of a page from my grandmother's notebook. It mentions the death of Mathew Ryan in Pallasgreen in September, 1855. It also discusses Jeremiath (sp?). I believe that was one of his sons. Mathew's son, Hugh, emigrated to the United States in 1848. He came to Evansville, Indiana. I have his family well-documented in the United States. I want to upload a few documents. I would love to make contact with Ryans/Dwyers who may be related.

Kathy:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Hopefully others with connections to your Ryan/Dwyer lines will see your message and post comments.
We have a XO Chronicles site where you can add stories about your ancestors who left Ireland.

The record you have for Dermot is for Jeremiah. Darby, Dermot and Jeremiah are all variants.
I also found a third son of Matthew and Mary. See below.
Have you considered autosomal DNA testing.

Kathy Reed, it's been too long! You may recall our discussions about the McGraths and Ryans from a few years ago. I'm not sure you knew that I also have Dwyer ancestors from Pallasgreen. I will see if I have any information that may be of use to you. We've recently discovered there might be more Ryan connections than previously thought. -- Jill

Kathy, have you any idea if your Dwyers were from the Knockderk area of Pallasgreen?

Roger,
Thank you for your response. I do have the baptismal record for Hugh -- he is my direct ancestor. Catrione Crowe did some research for me in 2010. She also included the baptismal record for Judith, but was not sure this was the same family, as she was born in Limerick City. I've attached it.
I think the marriage record refers to Corelish as the home of Mathew. I don't know if this is east or west. I would love to know more about the Dwyer family and the exact locations where the family could have lived. I'd also like your opinion on whether or not earlier Ryans would have been buried in the Old Pallas graveyard. We visited Pallasgreen several years ago and visited the graveyard and a church -- St. John's if I recall. I have trouble understanding where the actual baptisms would have taken place. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Kathy:
I live in the States so I'm not real familiar with the Pallasgrean area. Let me check with our HQ to see if they know of someone local who might be able to assist.

Roger and Kathy, There is a possibility the three of us have ancestors in common from the Pallasgreen area. I have McGrath/Dwyer and possibly connections to Ryans. I've been to Pallasgreen three times and last summer made some valuable connections with several local historian/genealogist. Kathy, I sent you an e-mail. The Ryans are plentiful in that area, that is for certain! So are the Dwyers and McGraths. Check out www.historicgraves.com and search Old Pallas Cemetery or Towerhill Cemetery in Cappamore.

I have been trying to find any information concerning my grandfather's family who were said to have come from Pallasgreen.
He himself was born around 1917 and named Michael Ryan, aparently seeing as there are so many Ryans in Pallas there needed to be a nickname to single any one person out.His nickname we think was 'Red mick' due to his hair colour.
Any information would be wonderful.

Looking for Ryan relatives in Pallasgreen for my brother who will be visiting there in a few weeks. Our great-great grandmother is Johanna Ryan. Johanna came to the US with her brother John Ryan in the late 1840’s. Johanna married a John Carney (Kearney) and raised her family in Wisconsin and Illinois.
Rev. John Ryan and Johanna Ryan Kearney are buried in Galesburg, Illinois. Are there descendants of John and Mary still living in Pallasgreen. Would it be possible to meet some relatives? Thank you.
