Seeking any descendents from John Hayes (born 1831 in Pallasgrean, parents were Mortimer Hayes and Mary Ryan).

John Hayes married around 1858 in Pallasgrean to Johanna Hanley (born appox 1836 in pallasgrean).

They had 9 children, though 7 survived to adult-hood.

Five daughters emigrated to Australia in 1882, and I believe John and Johanna, and their son Mortimer may have moved to a small village called Knockballyfoorkean which is where they appear in the 1900 census.  John Hayes appears in the 1911 census, but from there I have lost the trace on him.

I am a descendent from their daughter Hannah Hayes and would love to find any one with a connection to the Hayes family from Pallasgrean or Knockballyfoorkean.

  • Hello

    Yes I am.

I am in Melbourne, Australia, so its rather difficult to find records.  Lots of things online, but apart from the census records of 1900 and 1911, its been a long and difficult task to find anything more current about Mortimer of  Knockballyfookeen, Pallasgreen.

I recently found another descendent from this clan here in Melbourne also, who had a copy of a letter from Mortimer's nephew that mentions Mortimer Hayes had a daughter Judy who was living in the same Hayes house in Pallasgreen.   That was back in the 1960s I think.

All the best to you and how are you related to Hayes.

    Cheers
