I am trying to find out more about my grandmother Annie Ryan, she was born in Pallasgreen in 1891/2 and had a brother called Tommy and a sister called Mary.  She married a man named O'Connell and had two children Mary and William (who I am told died of the flu epidemic).  I know in 1922 she travelled to London with the children and married a Frank Sutton.  I would be very interested to hear about her time in Pallagreen as a young person.  If anyone can help please contact me.

Thank you to everyone who can help.

  • Janice:

Ryan is a very common name so it would help if you knew the parents names. I found this 1901 census record which is a possibility. There is a six year old Hannie with a brother Thomas and a sister May.

  • Hi Janice,
I was intrigued by your post on IrelandXO.com. My grandmother, Winifred Ryan, was born in Pallasgreen in 1903. She has sisters Mary, Nora and Ann (b. 1898) and brothers Thomas and William. Her parents were William and Catherine.
Could it be the same Ann as your grandmother? Naming her son William seems too much of coincidence, since her brother and father were of that name.
My grandmother emigrated to the US around 1919. She married my grandfather, Daniel Gallagher, in the early 1920s, and my father, Daniel, was born in NYC in 1927.
When my father and his brother and sister were little, Winnie took them back to Limerick to live during the Depression. He lived on the family farm there from about 1931-1934, when he returned to the U.S.
Winnie's sister, Mary, also emigrated to NY. I do not know what the brothers or the other two sisters did, although I have birth and death years for all of them.
If you found out anything else and we are related, please let me know!
