It's a copy & paste from www.rootsireland.ie/ (subscription site) so is a bit confused but the fathers are both John.& farmers

Hanleys were from Reens Cross; Dohertys from Ballyallinan

I have relatives in Rathkeale and will be seeing one this week so will ask about Hanleys and Dohertys to try to find grave sites for you to visit.

Thanks for the quick reply and the information.

I did not have any record of my great grandparents' marriage or my great grandfather's death.

The dates definitely coincide with the six children being born between 1872 and 1879.

The oldest child Bridget who was born in 1872 was the only one who did not emigrate and records I could find show she died in the area in 1903.

My oldest cousin Tom Hanley mentioned he had heard that the family had some sort of shop or inn for travelers and seeing the occupation as shopkeeper supports that.

Catherine and the five children emigrated to Chicago after John's death. I have yet to find a ship record. All six are buried in an unmarked grave on the south side of Chicago. One son Thomas was my mom's father but he died in 1931 when she was 3. I plan to place two permanent markers this summer at their gravesite for my mom this summer and had started this family research in anticipation of that. Records seem more plentiful in Ireland than Chicago.

We will be coming to Shannon from London on March 22. We will spend the night in Adare and spend time on March 22-23 visiting the area and hopefully find some gravesites.
