My ggg grandfather WILLIAM HIGGINS died before 1854 he ws born approx 1800.

He was Roman Catholic and lived in Rathkeale.

Can anyone find a death date  for me so that I can order a certificate.

I assume it would have been recorded at the local RC CHURCH?

Thank you VERY MUCH Sylvia

  • Sylvia:

Civil registration of deaths did not begin until 1864. RC parishes rarely maintained death information. I just checked the Rathkeale register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0892  and they only have baptisms and marriages.

  • Thanks Roger, I appreciate your help. You assisted me once before thank you, thank you. It is too bad no deaths are recorded before. Perhaps he might have been buried in ST Mary's RC church Rathkeale so Ill,try to connect with the local church warden who might be able to assist me. It is a long shot but worth a try don't you think.        Thanks again Roger.  Sylvia
