I’m trying to trace the mother and/or father of Thomas York(e) who married Anne Farrell in November 1837 at ( I think) Sacred Heart, Carrickedmond. I have been able to trace 8 children born between 1839 and 1860 but I have not been able to find any written records of Thomas’s parents or siblings. I’m trying to establish if this Thomas York(e) was the nephew of my Great Great Grandfather Francis (Frank) Yorke who married Margaret Nolan in February 1835 and and had 5 children. They lived in Abbeyderg. Any information on Francis Yorke would also be greatly appreciated.

    Two possible leads.

    The subscription site Roots Ireland has a June 9 1815 baptismal record for a Thomas Yorke. Parish was Ardagh and Moydow. Father Gerard Yorke mother Margaret Denigan. One sibling Margaret 1812.

    There is also a July 26 1807 baptismal record for a Thomas York. Parish Ardagh and Moydow. Father Daniel York mother Mary Dowd. One sibling Margaret 1811.

  • I'm a little confused by your posting. Thomas York married to Ann Farrell 1837 would be roughly the same age as Francis Yorke married to Margaret Nolan1835.

    Since Francis Yorke's parents were Garret Yorke & Marg Ann Donnigan you might want to look for information that would verify or rule them out as brothers.

    Francis York is my grt grt grandfather.  While I was not able to find a baptismal record for Francis his death has his birth abt 1808. His son Michael is listed on Bryan York's death record as a nephew and I have DNA matches to the descendants of Bryan York & Elizabeth McHugh so that would be verification of his parentage.

    There are 4 baptismal records for Garret York & Margaret Ann Donigan/Donnigan children: Patrick b. 1806;  Bryan York b. 1810; Marg York b. 1812 & Thos York b. 1815.  I wonder if maybe the record for Patrick might be Francis baptism.  Bryan's Baptism is listed under Bernard so they don't always use the name they were given at birth.

    So which of  Francis York & Margaret Nolan's children are you related?
