My GG Grandfather Edwardus (Edward) b. 1809 Longford, married Joanna Barnett 1832 at Parish Templemicheal, Diocese Ardagh.
He had two brothers, Joannem (John) b. 1813 and Pat b. 1820, both at Parish Templemicheal, Diocese Ardagh.
Transported to Australia, arriving 1835 and leaving Joanna and daughter? behind.
His paper of freedom NSW Australia stated his father Thomas was a farmer and native of Ballymacormick, Longford and mother was Catherine (Ward).
I visited Longford Town this time last year and inquired about the Keegans and Barnetts and in particular Joanne and child, but drew a blank.
Any info on his mum, dad and brother would be appreciated and also wondering if our Keegans were related to or decended from Patr. M'Eagan, Ballem'keagan (Ballymakeegan) Longford 1591.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I only found one small bit of information. The 1853 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Templemichael civil parish does show a Patrick Keegan and a John Keegan living in Longford town.
https://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/longford/templemichael.htm
Also, Roots Ireland does show baptismal records in Longford RC parish n the 1820s and 1830s for children of Patrick Keegan and also John Keegan. Nor sure if they are the brothers of Edward.

Thanks Roger, I am happy now that I can link Edwards NSW Convict Pass information to his father being a farmer and native of Ballymacormick and his brothers birth records at Templemichael.
We will be returning to Ireland 2020 to attend the Egan Clan Gathering and look forward to once again being in your beautiful Country.

Col,
John Keegan farming possibly 3 acres at Ballinamore, Ballymacormick in 1833 (see Tithe Applotments website).
Also James Keegan at Gorteenagloon & Owen Keegan at Trillick in the same area. Several families of Ward living in the same general area.
When looking for Barnett (which is sometimes Burnett) I came across a William Barns, or Burns also farming in Ballinamore, Ballymacormick. Could this be Joanna's family?
Ballinamore has the ruins of an old Farrell Castle but very little of it is standing now.

Hi John
My mate in Brisbane is an O'Farrell, his ancestor was from Dublin.
I have a document given to my cousin by a Mr. Baxter of Longford in 1987. Circa 1800 there were 10 families farming at Gurteenagloon. Of these were Luke Baxter, Mr. Baxter's GG Grandfather, James and Patrick Keegan and Philip Farrell. James owned 15 acres, 1 rood and 20 preches. Patrick owned 19 acres, 3 roods and 11 perches. Mr. Baxter says his Grandfather purchased both Keegan's land around 1870. Mr. Baxter also mentions his family still owning land in Ballymacormack, but are living in Ballinamore.
What is interesting is on Edwards Ticket of freedom, NSW 1841 he states his father Thomas Keegan is a farmer at Ballymacormack, yet on his death certificate 1881 his father is listed as a Publican.
I have through YDNA testing located an American Keegan who shares the same Haplogroup with me and we appear to be descendands of these Keegan families siblings from Ballymacormack. Thanks for the leads on Ward and Barnett.
Cheers
