My husband's family came from Ireland and we are trying to research his ancestors, plus find any of their descendants who might still live in Ireland. He is a Quinn and we have found his Quinn line still living in Donegal City and plan to visit there next spring. His grandfather, Michael Quinn, immigrated to Bristol, Rhode Island, USA. He married a Catherine McLaughlin (1879-1936) in Newton, Massachusetter. Catherine was born in Cooloort, Clonca parsih, Malin Head, Donegal, Ireland. Her parent were George McLaughlin (abt. 1841) and Susanna Doherty (about 1851). They were married in the Clonca parish in Malin Head. We do not know when or where they died. We know of a couple of Catherines siblings who also immigrated. We have found some records that indicate that Susanna's father was Phillip, but that's all we know of her. George and Susanna's children were Mary, Elizabeth, Brigid, Edward, Catherine. Susan, Philip, Ann, Rose, James, George, John, Margaret, and Ellen. If there is a parish Priest or someone else who is interesting in Genealogy and could help us to know where to look once we come to Ireland to get more information we would apprecaite it.

Below are the 1901 and 1911 census records for the George McLaughlin family. The spelling of the townland was Culoort. I located a likely civil death index record for George in 1921. There were four possible records for Susan (year of birth around 1850), two were in 1920, one in 1923 and the other in 1928. I also located a transcription of the 1869 civil marriage record and Susan's father was Philip. George's father was Edward.
I will contact our parish liaison in Clonmany parish and alert her of your pending visit. (We currently do not have a PL in Clonca).

Thank you for your help. Some of this information I have been able to find but we did not have a death date for George. Also, thanks for the info on Susan, looks like we will have to dig a bit deeper. I am a bit of a novice at this but I am learning slowly. I'm hoping someway to find out more about George and Susan's parents.
We have connected with the Quinn line and that is why we are visiting Ireland. Most of them live around Donegal City. That line married into the McLaughlin /Doherty line and so we would like to see if we can make any connections with family in Culoort, (thanks for correct spelling), Clonca Parish, Malin Head.

We were in Donegal last September. It is quite a distance from Donegal Town up to the top of Inishowen. A beautiful county. If you have time, try to get out to Slieve League which is in southwest Donegal.

I mentioned last fall when I posted a message that we were going to plabn a trip to Ireland. We actually will be in Ireland from June 11th to the 18th and plan to spend most of that time in Donegal. We want to go to Clonca Parish in Malin Head, Donegal and would love to see if their are relatives there we can connect with or find cemetaries with relatives graves, or visit the church where they attended or were married. We have a record saying that George McLaughlin and Susanna Doherty were married in Clonca parish, Malin Head, Donegal on 7 Dec. 1869. (It indicates that it was in St. Mary's Chapel of the Sea) Does any such chapel still exist? Is there a Parrish Priest or any one that we could connect with before we arrived. we would appreciate any help.
