Hello. I have just found my 4 x great Grandfather Bryan Martin baptised 1814 lived in Kilsaran. I know very little about my Louth family as we have a larger connection to Monaghan and Killanny. I would love to find Bryans parents, and his wife Anne Curtis' family info. They were listed as living in Kilsaran. I also come from the Patrick McKenna family and the Brady's around The area. Thank you so much!

Hello Maggie, I can see no baptism for Bryan Martin in 1814 plus or minus 5 years, there are a number of Martin baptisms in Louth for this period but no Bryan or Brian or similiar, the names are all common in the area and if you explore this site you can search the names, if you come across any gravestones I can look up the inscriptions given time as a lot of transcribing has been done over the years. http://www.jbhall.freeservers.com/ The names given feature heavily in the area mentioned, mid to north Louth.
The RC registers for Kilsaran date from before this time so not having the baptism online may be that it was not recorded or was in another parish. Assuming RC.
https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0224 starts in 1809 but some missing. You can search the other parishes on this site too.
I searched further and found a Bryan Martin born in Drumconrath or sometimes Drumcondra in Meath, close enough to Kilsaran, 12 miles maybe. Father James and mother Jane Gafney nowadays probably Gaffney, Sponsors were Bryan Connally or Connelly and Mary Doogan or could be Dougan. It is also on the site that a James Martin and a Jane no 2nd name had a Thomas Martin in 1815 but in Nobber in Meath, this is further away again and less likely, sponsors were Thomas Balf and Biddy Hand.
From research I done recently I know there was a book published in 1908 about Kilsaran parish and surrounds and is available for research only in the local library. Any info therein about graves etc would be referenced in the first website I gave you.
Feel free to ask for clarification etc if required.
