Stuart or Stewart Taylor was a Protestant born about 1807 in Louth (according to his details when he signed up to the Irish Constabulary in 1832). While a policeman he was serving at Tyrell's Pass, Westmeath in 1840 and in Castletown, Westmeath in 1853 then was pensioned from the police in 1862 after serving 30 years and 9 months.
During that time (in 1839?) he married Elizabeth Turkington a Protestant born about 1819 in Westmeath and they had 12 children:
John I Taylor 1840-1853
Joseph Taylor 1842- on 1911 Census in Dublin, journalist, wife Elizabeth & son Stuart Conway.
Thomas Frederick Taylor 1844-1875
Helen Taylor ?1846-
William Taylor ?1846
Ellen Taylor 1852 on 1881 census of England with brother John and sister Emily.
John H Taylor 1853-1937 on census of England from 1881.
Mary Jane Taylor 1853-1865
Charlotte Taylor 1856 married Henry McClelland in Westmeath in 1877.
Stuart Taylor 1856, a visitor on 1891 English Census but emigrates to US?
Emily Taylor 1862 on census of England from 1881 and 1891 with brother John H.
Alfred Arthur Taylor 1864-1949 emigrates to Australia?
After retiring from the police force, Stuart began to work on Lord Longford's Estate at Packenham Hall first as a bailiff and later as Estate Manager where he had a house and 8 acres of land in Clolure, Clonteens. He remained there until his death and was buried in Mayne on 18th May 1892.
John H Taylor is the ancestor we know most about. He married a Catholic girl, Bridie Weir born 3rd March 1877 in Johnstown, Mullingar whom he brought to England then married on 16th July 1901 in Brixton. Recommended by Hon R.H.Dutton MP, he became a Railway accountant in 1878 until he retired in 1919. He died in 1936 in Mortlake, England. They had 3 children who were raised as Catholics: Mary Josephine 1902, Thomas Frederick 1904, and John Stewart 1907.

I have some information that may help you re Stuart Taylor. My Fetherston and Holmes relatives were tenants on the Packenham Hall estate at Carne, and some were also employes. I have a number of items relating to individuals with the Taylor surname, including something specifically about Stuart Taylor. In addition, my ggg-grandfather's sister married a Turkington in Mayne church. I believe they could be Elizabeth Turkington's parents as the dates fit.
