My great grandfather, Bernard Mulroy, was born in May 1844. He immigrated to the U.S., departing Liverpool and arriving in New York on 1 May 1863. He settled in Pennsylvania, was a miner, married a young Irish lady, and together raised 10 children. I chose Mayo County because I was told that was where the Mulroys originated from. No Irishman/Irishwoman ever confirmed the validity of that statement.
Is there any way to determine Bernard's origin? No records held by me list his parents.
Thanks for listening.

Hi Fred,
I checked on www.rootsireland.ie for Bernard's birth but there were no records.
There are 31 Mulroys born in 1844 in all counties with 7 in Mayo.
Do you have the names of any of his siblings that I can search for to help narrow it down?

Hello Col,
All his children were born in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. His wife, Julia Crehan, immigrated to America from Ireland in Sept 1864, located in Luzerne County where she met Bernard. His siblings can't help any earch in Ireland. None of them returned.

Hi Fred,
I meant Bernard's brothers & sisters - do you know any of their names so I can search for them.
The szenczicoller tree has the marriage to Julia 24 Aug 1867 Luzerne PA. I assume this doesn't have his parents'names on it
Closest match for Julia's birth is 1856 Cork.

Hi Col,
Sorry about that "senior moment" concerning siblings vs children. There aren't any other names linked to Bernard; none on the death certificate.
That's the correct wedding date. I do have some info about Julia. Her birth date was Nov 1852. Interestingly, it seems she went through life here having her maiden name spelled Crane, a near pronunciation of Crehan. I didn't know the proper name until I found her death certificate. It also had her parents names: Patrick and Winifred Mullen.
Thnks for listening and your help.
