Greatgrandfather Purcell(possibly named John) immigrated to USA during the potato famine. Lived in Pennsylvania, in Schukill County. Married Mary Purcell. Purcell was her maiden name. Had my grandfather, Edward Purcell. Edward was born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania.

Hi Sally,
I had a look for your Purcells and there was a family tree on Ancestry that listed an Edward Purcell as a child of a Patrick and Mary Purcell.
Edward was born in September 1846 in Pennsylvania and died 17th June 1932.
He married Jane Fleming and they had 11 children!
Patrick and Mary wee both born in Ireland in 1832 and 1833 respectively.
On the rootsireland.ie site I looked for Patrick and Mary's marriage but there was none for a Patrick Purcell & Mary Purcell.
The site had two birth records for Patrick Purcell 1832 - one in Wicklow and one in Kilkenny.
I found the marriages for Patrick Purcell and Mary - no surname but with the birth year of 1833 and found 5 in Wicklow (I suspect it's the same listing 5 times!) The marriage was in 1856 and the bride was Mary Keogh.
