Hello, my name is Heather. I am searching for any familiy connections still on Achill Island.
My maternal grandmother was Bridget O'Malley (born in Keel (East) 5/12/1911, died 2/4/1973, her brothers were...John O'Malley born in 1907, Thomas O'Malley born in 1913, James O'Malley born in 1919).
Her parents were Bridget Lavelle (born in Keel 12/3/1878, died 1951) and Anthony O'Malley (born in Paisley, Scotland 5/28/1879, died 1972).
My great grandmother Bridget Lavelle's parents were Bridget Malley and Thomas Lavelle, married in Keel (unfortunately I have no dates).
My great grandfather Anthony O'Malley's parents were John Malley and Mary McNamara (again, I have no more dates).
I would greatly appreciate ANY help with my search. Thank you, kindly.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I did locate the civil marriage for Thomas Lavelle and Bridget Malley.Feb.4 1865. Both from Keel. Father’s were Martin Lavelle and Pat Malley. Thomas was 22 and Bridget 17.
I will get back to you later with any additional info I can locate.

Oh, my! Thank you so much! How very exciting to gain more information. I will look forward to any additional information or documentation. Is there somewhere I can access these records?
Gratefully,
Heather

Heather:
I used the subscription site Roots Ireland and the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie which has images of civil births from 1864-1916. Marriages are available from 1870-1941. They plan to add images back further at some point in the coming months and at that time your 1865 marriage for Thomas and Bridget will be available to view. I did find tow other children but likely there are more but there are so many Lavelles in the Newport registration district it complicates the search. Also, there was also another Thomas Lavelle/Bridget Malley couple living in the Castlebar area at the same time.

Attached FilesAnn with Mother and Aunt Bridget copy.jpg (289.22 KB)
Hi Heather!
I am also an descendant of the Keel O'Malleys! I believe your grandmother is my great-great Aunt Bridget. My great grandfather is John Malley, Bridget was his sister. I have a picture of my grandmother Ann Malley Gerth, my great grandmother Ann Smith Malley (married to Bridget's oldest brother John Malley) and Aunt Bridget. I will attach the photo, could you tell me if the women on far left is your grandmother? I am hoping to clear up my family tree. Right now, John Malley and Mary McNamara are listed as John (and Bridget's) parents, and I think this is incorrect, and your post above supports my theory that they are listed incorrectly in my tree and should be listed as John's grandparents rather than parents.

Hello,
May I ask who this is?
I am not sure I follow who is in this photograph, or if you are asking if it is my grandmother, great grandmother or great great grandmother, as all were named Bridget. Where and when was this photo taken and can you give me any birth dates of the women in it? Also, can you list your relatives with birth/death dates and where they might overlap with those in my post? I would love to help you clear up your tree and add any new information to mine as well.
Thank you!
Heather

Hi Heather!
My name is Melissa, I am from the US. I am not entirely sure who the woman to the far left in the picture is, I was hoping you might know. On the picture it is captioned, "Ann with mother and Aunt Bridget."
Ann is my grandmother, she is the youngest on the far right, probably in her 20's at the time. In the middle is her mother, Ann Smith Malley who was married to John Malley (b. 1882, d.1932), my great grandfather. And then on the far left is "Aunt Bridget." I am assuming Aunt Bridget is my Great Grandfather John Malley's sister. His parents were John Malley and Mary McNamara, I don't have any other information on these relatives other than their names. Does this line up with your family tree at all? I believe the picture was taken in the mid-40's based off of my grandmother's age. Most likely taken in or near Paisely, Scotland as this is where my grandmother and her parents lived at the time. I hope this helps!
Thanks so much!
Melissa

And now that I am looking more closely, it wouldn't be Bridget Lavelle O'Malley who was my great grandfather's sister, she would have been his sister-in-law. But she still could possibly be the Aunt Bridget in the photo? I believe my great grandfather John Malley and Anthony O'Malley were brothers, both with the parents John Malley and Mary McNamara.
