How exciting - I just found this site, what a wonderful idea!!!  MyGGG William and Anne McAndrew Roche had 5 of their 6 children in Ballynahaglish parish before coming to Baltimore, USA around 1851/52.  The early Griffiths has William and Anne in Bellass, he was a blacksmith and I would love to know exactly where.  Anne's parents are probably John and Mary McAndrew (going by how the family seemed to name their children) I found 2 of Wm and Anne's children's baptism records that state their RC parish as Backs/Knockmore. Other prevailant names in the families were Patrick, James, Bridget and Thomas.  It appears the Roches were from Bellass and the McAndrews were from Coolcronane.  Where should I look to find relatives that may still be in the area?

  • The formatting didn't work! Sorry it is birth year day and month or marriage year day and month!

  • Ok - now I get it.  What document did this info come from?  The names sure are all the family names I am familiar with - will have to look up Ballinskerry to see where it is in relation to Coolcronaun and Bellass where I know my folks lived.  The thing that REALLY tweaked me was the name Keane as one of the maiden names!  My best friend is a Keane and we have always called ourselves long lost sisters as we think so very much alike.  Wait til I tell her this!!

  • WOW - so much information! I'm gonna have a blast going thru all those lists!  My email address is:fandetti@aol.com     Do you think my McAndrews could be your McAndrews?  The only thing I know for sure is ANne McAndrew married WIlliam Roche and lived in Coolcronane when they had 2 of 6 kids in 1850 and 1846.  RC parish Backs/Knockmore which would have been civil parish Ballynahaglish.  Thanks again for your interest and your help.
