Descendant of John Little and Mary Howe, who were married in Turlough in a Church of Ireland wedding in January 1824 and then settled in Crossboyne, where their children were born.  After John Little died (date unknown) Mary Little (nee Howe) married a man named Richard Fleming.  Mary and 8 children left Crossboyne in 1846 and sailed on board the Barque Elizabeth and Sarah, which sailed from Killala and they went to Canada and settled in the Fitzroy, Ontario area.  It is not known if Mary was a widow when they left Ireland but in 1852 Mary is shown as a widow in Canadian census records.

  • Hi!  Since posting my previous message, I have additional info to include.  Names of witnesses on marriage record for John Little and Mary Howe were Samuel Grimes and John Hopkins.

Also, learned that William McKelvy from Castlebar married Rebecca McConnell from Crossboyne in Church of Ireland wedding at Turlough in 1844.  Rebecca McConnell is buried with members of the Little family in Arnprior, Ontario, Canada so is probably related.  William & Rebecca McConnell also came to Canada on the Barque Elizabeth and Sarah which departed Killala in May 1846 arriving Quebec City in August 1846.  They also settled in Fitzroy Township. After Rebecca died in 1867, the McKelvy family moved to Manitoba.
