Hi

I am looking for the death of my great uncle Michael Gavin who was born in Derrycooraun in December 1885. He had a sister Bridget Gavin (My Granny) who initially emigrated to USA soon after 1911 census. Michael ran the family farm in Derrycooraun with his mum Catherine Gavin nee Neary. My mother told me that he drowned in a nearby body of water in his 20's and Bridget was summoned home to help Catherine run the farm. Bridget later married my grandad Patrick Quinn in 1917 in Islandeady.

I have been looking for Michael's death for a while without success.  If anyone could help me I would be very grateful.

Thanks

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

For whatever reason, I don't think that Michael's death was recorded civilly. I searched on Gavin/Gaven/Gavan in both the Castlebar and Westport registratiion districts and did not find the record.

I did find Catherine's death record on January 25, 1919. You have to sign-in to see the record. Last record on the page.
