A Michael Reddington married Mary Dempsy in Kilconduff Parish in 1837.  May have been my great great grandfather. I have the marriage record, says that Michael was from Lisderane. My Michael Reddington remarried a Bridget McHugh in Liverpool in 1849, was listed as a widower with parents Owen and Mary in Ireland.  My Michael was born in about 1819 and I am assured by family hearsay that he was from County Mayo.  A death record for Mary Dempsy Reddington in the 1839-1845 time frame would help me zero in.  Any thoughts?  I am aware of a gravesite at the Swinford Workhouse of 564 souls that perished due to a disease event.  Is there a source for information on residents or deaths in the Workhouse?

Best wishes from central United States.

  • According to this link, Swineford workhouse records are held in Castlebar Library:

  • Pam, I have nothing on the McKenzie surname.  But I do have extensive information on the descendants of Michael Reddington and Bridget McHugh.  I suspect Martin was the brother of Michael.  The name Martin appears with Michael in Pittston, Pennsylvania, USA, a coal mining area.
