I would love to connect with anyone researching this family! James Kittredge was born abt 1824 to Malachi and Hannorah (Garvey) Kittrege.. I believe the name is Kitterick in Ireland. James married Bridget Toole, she was born abt 1835 to Peter and Nancy (Davett) Toole. James and Bridget had a daughter named Bridget, baptised in 1855 Kilgeever Parish, Barony of Murrisk, Diocese of Tuam, County Mayo. I believe they left Ireland shortly after that and ended up in Clinton, Massachussettes where they had, Nicholas, Patrick, Mary, Michael, Eliza, Malachi, James, Frank, William. William was my Great grandfather. I would love and information on anyone in this family!

Thanks in advance!

Sandy

  • There are 62 baptismal records for Kitterick's in the Kilgeever Parish Roman Catholic Church records on the Accony School website at www.acconyschool.com . I only came across

Your Bridget Kitterick is there, listed as baptized on 04 February 1855, the daughter of James Kitterick and Bridget (Toole) Kitterick with James Davitt and Nancy Davitt as sponsors.

There was no reference to your Kittredge's in the book: "The Louisburgh-Clinton Connection" (A Social Study by Edward M. Gill, copyright 2006, Trafford Publishing, Victoria British Columbia, Canada), but this may be due to the time period involved in this author's study. Other Kittredge's are listed, usually emigrating in the two decades of 1890 and 1900, which are the dates the book focuses on.

A large number of residents of Louisburgh (a larger town in Kilgeever Parish) emigrated to the Clinton, Massachusetts, area to find employment as the industrial revolution in America began to grow.

I would like to think the local historical society in Clinton would have extensive records. Their URL address is www.clintonhistorical.org . There is a "genealogy" page on the website that appears to be inactive, but you could contact them through the website and see if they have any surname records.

    Good luck.
