Hi

I have been tracing my HANNAN family from Attymachugh for many years now.

My great great grandfather was Michael Hannan b.c. 1858 son of another Michael Hannan.

Michael 1858 was in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England in 1878 when he married Margaret Hannan (she was born in Chesterfield daughter of John Hannan a cordwainer & Ann Manion).

I have found no connection at all to the 2 Hannan families up to now. John Hannan was the son of John another cordwainer and I can follow them through the census in Wales & then on to Sheffield before finally Chesterfield. John married Ann Manion in 1853 in Spinkhill, nr Chesterfield. He had several siblings also living in the area.

Michael on the other hand I can find no definite record for until he marries Margaret in 1878. His father was a labourer (no trade) and I can find him on the Griffiths Valuation in Attymachugh.

I tend to think the 2 families were not connected but this is only a hunch.

Anyone out there know anything about the Hannan's of Attymachugh? I would love to hear from you.

Thanks

Louise
