Hello Everyone, Right where do I start. :-) My gr gr grandfather Bryan Lavan was born in Derrykinloughin 1859. I don't know anything about his family back in Ireland really. I only know his father might have been called Micheal Lavan born 1835 maybe in South Mayo. Bryan emigrated to York, England between 1859 and 1881. I don't know if he came to live in England with his mum, dad and siblings, which might be the case. Bryan married Mary Anne Narey in York, England in 1881. They had 8 daughters and 1 son. Their children were Mary, Margaret, Edith, Hilda, Katherine, Florence, Gertrude, Eliza and Bernard. Bryan passed away in York in 1929. I am looking for any help on this at all. I am also looking for any living relatives, maybe some back in Ireland. All help would be greatly apreciated.
Thank you,
Katie

Hi Cynthia, Thank you hun. Yep already a member of that facebook group. I did find a few things this morning. Found out Bryan might have had a sister called Mary she was born in Derrykinlough in 1877 and might a cousin called Mary born the same year. Also two uncles maybe. One called Bryan and one called Thomas. The uncles had some land and property in Derrykinlough.
All the best,
Katie

Help for those researching Killedan/Kiltimagh
Killedan was an old Cemetery on the Kiltimagh-Bohola Road.
The Cemeteries being used currently near this area are Bohola and Kilkinure (Kiltimagh)
Irish Graveyards (some Mayo at this link)
http://www.irishgraveyards.ie/
I have entered some Burials in Bohola Old, Bohola New, Killedan, and Kilkinure on Findagrave
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=mr&MRid=47069730&MSid=47069730&
When researching Irish Records -
1) Start first with Family Stores (record what you have heard, this may be helpful with "brick walls".
1901 and 1911 Census are free to search, search by towland or Surname
Griffiths Valuation (1850's) is also free, search by townland or Surname - Lavan Killedan
Thanks so much to Dympna for passing on this information.
