My grandfather was James Watson Curran. He was born in Greggs Mills in 1865. The family moved to Crossgar around 1868 before emigrating to Canada in 1873.

HIs mother Jane Watson died in Crossgar in 1869. She had five children.

Jones Jones Curran married Jennie MIller who was a school teacher at the Crossgar school. They had seven children, the first born in Ireland.

Much of our family history has been captured by Brian Curran  (http://www.mamisa.net/), who we met in 2007 when myself and two cousins visitied Ireland.  Brian led us to the site of the mill in Greggs Mills and the church in Cloveneden. We later visited the Curran house on Rock Chapel Road in Crossgar.

Great-grandfather John Jones Curran was a flax miller in Ireland, but for some reason in Canada his chosen occupation was newspaper publisher. My grandfather James Watson (Jim) became a successfall newspaperman in Sault Ste. Marie.where he settled and had a family of nine. My mother Catharine was his youngest.
