Roger, you have been busy!  And you have the right family.  I do have all that information.  And I have birth records on all their children.  No baptismal records though.  They actually attended St Edwards, although my parents were married at St Bonaventure.  I grew up in a nearby neighborhood too.  Baptismal records are harder to come by as Philadelphia has closed many of those inner-city parishes and moved records.  I located the church that has St Edwards records, but they are not very helpful.  Can keep trying.

I onlly know of one sister of Mary named Anne (marriage name McNamee) who emigrated and died in Philadelphia.

I was hoping to be able to identify the family in Ireland and visit the town in 2015. I did this for my mother's family in Serbia, and last year Patrick Duffy's home town in Rochdale England.  But after 20 years of research, Mary Duffy is still elusive.

Appreciate any further suggestions.  Thanks again.  Eileen

I went to www.familysearch.org     I searched for Duffy children born to Michael Duffy and Catherine Regan from 1864-1880. I got a number of hits but I'm somewhat cautious because it is possible there was another Michael Duffy/Catherine Regan couple in Mayo. In particular, there are two Patricks three months apart. Suggest you check out the site and see what you think.

    I found the following children:

    Mary       6/7/1866

    Ellen      6/18/1868

    Thomas    9/14/1870

    Celia         8/12/1872

Ann           8/12/1872  (did this Ann die young?)

    Bridget      11/20/1875

    Pat             12/28/1876

    Pat              3/5/1877

Anne           7/25/1879  (only record which actually showed Clooncarha)

  • Yes, I already have all that information.  And I too am convinced there is more than one family with same names.

I've bee working on this for years and have hit a brick wall.  I even had a genealogist in Ireland do some research for me several years ago, and I believe they came up with the wrong family.

Will keep thinking of new ways to approach this and continue searching as new records are added to databases.  Wish there were some kind of emigration records in Ireland.

    Thanks!
