I am looking for any info on my husbands Great Grandfather Charles Mahon. All I know is that he was born in about 1876 in co. Mayo and that he moved to Preston in England between 1901 and 1905. He married Margaret Ibison (b.1884 Garstang, Lancs, England) in about 1905 and had two children Kathleen (b.1907 Goosnargh) and Margaret Dorothy (b.1909 Goosnargh)
Any help greatly appreciated

Hello Melissa,
I went to the site www.rootsireland.ie and put in charles name and approx date. I found Charles Mahon born 1878 in Co. Mayo.
If you look down the left side of the site , click on county genealogy centres and this will brought me to co. mayo.
I then went down the page to parish/district drop down menu and searched each individual parish in Co. Mayo.
I found him in the parish of Crossmolina.
This baptismal record is there for you to view should you wish to. It will cost you about €5. You will then have his parents names and hopefully addresses.
When you have these you can then apply to www.groireland.ie to apply for his official birth certificate.
