Hello there,

 

My name is Peter I am from New Zealand, my mother was Kathryn Frances McMahon born (as far as I can ascertain) in county Mayo, Ireland in 1938. I know she had two siblings Maire, now deceased and Seamus whereabouts unknown. I dont know her parents names but believe that her father was an MP in the army.

 

I am keen to find out more about this side of my family so would appreciate any help.

  • G'day Pete,

    Can you give a bit more info please - your dad's name and year and place of their marriage.

    The records stop at 1920 for births so will try to track down a marriage record which should have your mum's place of birth and parents' names.

    Did she emigrate to NZ? If so do you know when?

  • Hi Col, I will try and track some of that down, I dont have a name for her father at the moment, sadly mum didnt talk much about her family, she emigrated to NZ when she met my father but she was living in England at that stage, sadly I dont have a lot of info , I will see if my cousin is able to help out and let you know. My dad is Thomas Knight, he is a NZer and met mum on his OE the two were married in London.
