Hello,
I am looking for information about my 3x great parents, James Sweeney and Mary McBride. They were both born in County Derry and I believe they were from Templemore Parish in Derry City. They emigrated to Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada around 1850. They had two daughters, Rosa born about 1848 and Mary, birth date unknown, both born in Ireland. They also had two sons born in Saint John, Patrick, aborn around 1855 and John, born around 1857. James and Mary died within one month of each other in 1883 in Saint John and they were Roman Catholic.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
Have you tried checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) for relatives of James & Mary?. The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38): Microfilm copies of the books for all of Ireland are available at the National Archives of Ireland (NAI) http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/tithe-applotment-books-and-the-primary-griffith-valuation/ or the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS). Griffith's is freely available here: www.askaboutireland.com or here: www.failteromhat.com Failte Romhat has lots of other useful links you could try looking at.
You may try contacting Brian.Mitchell@derrycity.gov.uk for further genealogy assistance.
All the best.
