    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Roots Ireland had two 1814 baptismal records and one in 1818. See the 1818 record below. You really need to know the parents names to confirm any record. Also many churches dod not have records back to 1819.

Your wife may want to consider autosomal DNA testing.

  • Hi there

How far did you get with this?

I came across this site and post as I too am looking for information about Patrick Arthur and Catherine Maguire

They appear to be my Great Great Great Grandparents!

    Regards

  • Dear Phil,

Its actually my husband Tim who joined this site, very kindly , to assist my ancestry searches.

I  am descended from Catherine and Patrick Arthur's son, Thomas born in 1842.

Patrick and  Catherine  Arthur, who at the 1841 census had just their first child with them in Wolverhampton, before many more arrived in subsequent years.

I have tried to trace back to Patrick and Catherine's parents , but have only identified her Mum, Bridget Mcguire or Maguire.

The Arthurs were thin on the ground in Co Mayo, but it seems that they may have been given land in lieu of salary after soldiering for the king who had run out of funds. There appear to be more Arthurs in Northern Ireland, and one seems to have made quite a splash in Limerick well before these times.I don't know if we are related to either of those Arthur families, as yet.

The Maguires were, and are, numerous in Co Mayo .

Which of their children are you descended from?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    All best wishes,

Gill, or to be more correct, , probably cousin Gill.!

  • Hi,

My name is Michael Kely and I am a descendant ot the Arthur family of Limerick I have done a lot of research on the family and in the course of my research I came across Patrick Artjur and Maria Bourke I have a theory about who his parents and grand paents were, I am also in contact with some people in America who may be descended from Patrick and Maria but this is not certain.Patrick and Maris had a number of children including two called Patrick the frist was baptized on 30 September 1814 and the second was baptized on 18 October 1818 both in the parish of St. Patricks in Limericl. Patrick and MAria had five children that I know of.four of whom seem to have lived. If you are related to these people and my theory about who they were is correct then we would be related.

If you wish you can cotact me directly by e-mail at info@kayletec.com

    Best Wishes,

    Michael Kelly
