Hello. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any how or way I could find out if an old grave that I have been searching for and found has a head stone.

I was searching for my great grandmothers grave and found where she is but unlike here there is no plot number or anything, and I was told if she has a head stone then I will find it, . if she hasnt then i wont know where she is. sadly. I was searching for a long time. finally found her now need to know if she has a headstone. so if anyone would know how i could find out if there is a stone i would be so grateful for a reply.

I am planning a trip over to ireland to visit the grave.  (hopefully) (im in the uk)

thank you for reading.

regards

karen

  • Hi clare. Thanks for your reply. I did infact email St marys and they said they dont have records of a spit where she is buried. They have no map or anything of where she is. They just said its a small cemetery and she has a stone we will find her. If she hasnt then we wont. Unfortunately. I just have to save for a while and try fly over and see if she has a headstone. X

  • Karen,

I'm not sure if you found what you were looking for, as your post was made a while ago.  If not, would she be buried in St. Mary's or the older cemetery in Athlumney?  That's a much smaller cemetery and not all graves have a headstone.  I found a few pictures online of the Athlumney cemetery that has a map with family plots numbered.

I have family buried in this cemetery from the early 1900's and others in St. Mary's.
