My Great, great gandfather was Thomas Louth. According to records I have found
He was born 1835 in Ireland - assume Duleek.
He married Elizabeth Dulleghan (sp?) on Oct 12 1852 in Donore Parish-Meath
He was baptised Apr 27 1862 in Donore - Father Patrick, mother Cathe Kearny
I beleive his children were Mary born 1855, Thomas J. born 1857 (my great randfather), Patrick born 18589, and James born 1861. I beleive all three sone immigrated to the US.
He died May 19 1876.
I drove through Dullek two summers ago but didn't know where to stop.
I often wonder if there are any Louths remaining in Duleek.

Dear Rihlefeld:
Many thanks for your query to the Ireland Reaching Out message board!
Upon reading your message, I believe that some of your dates may be out slightly.
Thomas Lough born in 1835 and married in 1852 would not have been baptised in 1862.
I see where Thomas Louth was born on 9 June 1857 in Duleek to Thomas Louth and Elizabeth Dullaghan.
His siblings were:
1. Patrick 1 May 1859 and the address is Plattin.
2. James 5 April 1861 and the address is Plattin.
In the 1901 Census, there are no Louth families in Plattin townland.
There were three Louth individuals listed in the 1901 Census. They were living in Killary which is north of Duleek.
If you believe that some of the Louth members of your great-grandfather's family remained, it is worth tracing them forward through the Civil Registration records that are available for free online at:
If there is anything further that you would like to know, please contact us.
Kind regards,
Jane.

Dear Rihlefeld:
Further to this post, one of our volunteers, Pat has asked that I also send you this message:
Local tells me the name is now probably now Lowthe and there is one in phone book in Duleek.
The spelling variant is worth looking into and if possible making some contact.
The phone book site is listed below:
The best of luck!
Jane.
