Hi: Would you be able to direct me as to where I can find out about my Grandmother Hannah Payne born around 1890 or late 1880s in Sarney, Dunboyne, Co. Meath? Her parents' names were Robert Payne and Mary Cally Payne. I don't have the first name of her husband my Grandfather, unfortunatly, but his surname was Kearney. I really know nothing of them and would really appreciate ANY information or direction to that information, thanks so much in advance.

Hi
Have you tried checking the census records for your relatives?
There is lots of useful information to be found in the 1901 and 1911 census records. You can find this here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Church records may also be of use to you. Most Catholic records are held locally - One site which might be of use is - http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/ - where you can ?browse? an overview of available records per county. If you have any difficulty, you could try writing to the parish priest for possible assistance.Church of Ireland parish registers for the period up to 1870-are public records. Registers are available for about one third of the parishes, however many were destroyed in the Public Records Office in Dublin in 1922. Most are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. A list of all surviving registers is available in the National Archives. http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you.
Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.Kind regards,

Hi Linda,
I have just come across your post from 9th December 2012. Have you made any progress since then? I think there is a typing error in your message as your grandmother Hannah's mothers name was Mary Scally. I am a great grandson of Robert Payne from his second marriage to Elizabeth Brunty. Please feel free to contact me at pauljohnconroy@gmail.com if there is anything related that you would like to find out regarding our shared ancestry.
