My grandparents met in the USA but were both from the same area of County Cork. I'm looking for information on Patrick Cahalane/Ann Luddy family, married in the Mitchelstown RC Church 1870 and had their children Mary (my grandmother) 1873, Bridget 1875 and William 1876 baptized in the Glanworth church.
Also looking for information on the Patrick Hanley/Hanly family, married in the Kilworth RC Church1836 and had their children Margaret 1837, William 1838, William 1840, Mary 1846, Bridget 1848, Johanna 1851, Michael 1855, and Patrick (my grandfather) 1859. All the children were baptized in the Kilworth RC Church except Michael and Patrick who were baptized in the Glanworth Church.
I'll be visiting the Mitchelstown, Kildorrery, Glanworth, Kilworth, Fermoy areas in July and would like any information you may be able to provide.
Thank you for your help.

Kevin:
I located the civil marriage index record for Anne and Patrick. The civil record will show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom. So if you don't have Ann's father, this record will have it. It will also show where the bride and groom were living in 1870. A copy costs around 4 euros from the General Register Office. If you plan to get a copy let me know and I will forward instructions.
The 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Kilworth parish shows a Patrick Hanley in Killally West townland.http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/cork/kilworth.htm There were no Patrick Hanleys in Glanworth parish so I assume the one in Kilworth is your relative.

Roger,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I was able to obtain the Mitchelstown RC Church record on Patrick Cahalane & Ann Luddy's marriage in 1870. It didn't have the parents names, William Cahalane and Timothy & Bridget (Moher) Luddy, but I was able to get those from Ann and her siblings baptism records. It appears that Patrick and Ann lived in Kildorrery after being married. I have the civil record index info and plan to stop by the London LDS Genealogy Center in Kew to look it up and others I have as well when I'm there in July. Our local LDS center here didn't have the film cartridges. Hopefully they will help to fill in some blanks or confirm what I have from the other records.
I have looked at the 1852 Griffiths Valuation that you mention and agree the Killally West one is the Hanly family. We just cross checked that yesterday with the baptism sponsors on the Hanly childrens baptism records and found I think three of the sponsor surnames that are listed on the same Griffiths record that shows the Hanly entry. So I'm pretty sure that is the right one. Looks like several neighbors/friends of the family acted as sponsors for the childrens baptisms.
I see that you are up in the County Roscommon area. I believe many of the Hanly's started in that area and a large number ended up in Cork.
Thanks again for your interest and help.
