Searching to connect with Michael Browne (birth circa 1795), son Simon Browne who immigrated first to Liverpool then to New York/Massachusetts/
Family story is that they came from Navan, possibly Carbury (sp?) Castle area.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Unfortunately, Carbury Castle is found in Co. Kildare and Navan is in Co. Meath so these two names do not correspond with each other.
Do you have any other information on Michael that you can share? Do you know when Simon emigrated? Do you know his mother?s name? Parents? occupations? Religious education etc.?
Have you tried looking at the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century? These do not give any genealogical information but they can sometimes be used to tie a person to a specific place. There are two
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) sound at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
You could try searching church records in Navan for Patrick?s birth record. Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which may be useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Navan parish follow this link:
For Church of Ireland records check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
You can also use https://familysearch.org/ . This is a huge database of genealogical records complied by the Church of the latter Day Saints. I for u can find some record of Michael or Simon in these it may help confirm place of origin.
Have you looked into Simon?s emigration? Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than that of departure, so sometimes this could be a place to find more information-and possibly a place of origin. For immigration records in the US check http://www.archives.gov/research/immigration/
Some other websites that could be useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx

I hope that this is helpful. Remember to post any new information that you find. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
