Looking for birth or other records for Thomas Bailey and/or Catherine Goggerty. Family records show that Thomas was born in 1824 n Nobber, County Meath. Catherine Goggerty was born 1827 also in Nobber. They emigrated to the US in the early 1850's; first to New York and eventually to the state of Iowa. They are my maternal gg grandparents. I have no other information so anything new would be appreciated.

Bailey Nobber:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
The Nobber RC records go back to 1754 and are available on the subscription site Roots Ireland. However, searches for Thomas Bailey and Catherine Goggerty did not turn up any reocrds around 1824 and 1827. I also did not find a marriage record or baptismal records for any children born in Ireland.
Do you know the religious denomination? If they were Church of Ireland, the National Archives has the Nobber records starting in 1828 which means if your years are correct t(1824 and 1827) then a baptismal record is not available for Thomas and Catherine.

Thanks for checking. I had purchased a one-month subscription to Roots Ireland a few weeks ago and it didn't turn up anything. I believe they may have emigrated independently and met in New York City and married there. Their first child, George Washington Bailey was my great grandfather. He was born in 1855 in Iowa, USA. So I don't believe there will be any marriage or children's birth records in Ireland. I don't know if they were Catholic or not. My mother was Methodist as was her mother but Thomas is 2 more generations back. I have discovered a 2nd cousin once removed who was a Roman Catholic nun so it's quite possible they were Catholic. We share Thomas and Catherine Bailey as GG Grandparents. I don't think there's much more I can do. Thank you so much for your help.

My guess is that they were baptized in a church other than Nobber and records for that parish no longer go back to the 1820s.
You may want to add Thomas' story (and Catherine's) to our XO Chronicles site and maybe someone will see a possible connection. https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…
Based on your finding a second cousin once removed, I assume you had your DNA tested.
