I am intersted in finding out more about any Clarkin's from Cootehill.
I saw an article published in the Boston paper in 1860 by Bridget Carney or Karn of Oak Creek, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, looking for Peter, Edward, Arhtur, Philip Clark. The article said they were originally from Coolkill, Matris, Co. Monaghan.
My own great-grandfather, Philip Clark 1820-1893 had a brother Edward b 1832-1898. It is said that their name was originally Clarkin. Edward's death certificate has his father as James. I know from the Griffith's Valuation that there was a James Clarkin in Cootehill.
Philip and Edward immegrated to Wyandotte, Michigan, USA via Canada.
Do you think there might be a connection?
