Hello, I am seeking information about a Michael Kelley who married a Hannah Mulrey. They had at least two Children: Patrick Kelley & Alice Kelley. Patrick and Alice both immigrated to Massachusetts, USA (Boston Area). We believe that Michael Kelley also had another wife named Mary. We think Michael and Mary also had at leas 2 children: Ann Kelley and Margaret Kelley. Ann Kelley married a Luke Murray (both were natives of Roscommon. Ann Kelley and Luke Murray lived in New York, USA and East Greenwich, Rhode Island, USA. Ann's Sister Margaret also traveled to New York and then RI. Margaret Married Patrick Tighe. Any information about these folks would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Annemarie,

I don't have a lot of information regarding dates, but here it goes:

I know that Patrick Kelley was born in Ireland in 1830. His wife Catherine Kelley (Kelley appears to be her surname too) was also born in Ireland in 1830. They were both 28 years old when they were married on November 9, 1958. There were married in or near Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts and their daugther Mary Frances Kelley was born in 1859. So they arrived to the United States some time before 1858.

I believe that Patrick had a sister Alice Kelley Daly who was born in Ireland about 1842. She too lived in the area of Boston Massachusetts.

Patrick and Alice's parents were Michael Kelley and Hannah Mulrey both from Ireland. I don't have any dates for these individuals. I am assuming that Michael and Hannah never traveled to the United States, but I could be wrong.

However, we had a theory that Michael had two wives. We thought his first wife was named Mary. We think Michael had at least two daughters with his first wife Mary. Their names are Ann Kelley and Margaret Kelley. Our theory may be off, because Ann was born about 1831 in Ireland. She is buried here in East Greenwich RI USA and on the headstone it reads that she and her husband were natives of Country Roscommon.

Ann's husband was named Luke Murray and he was born about 1825 to Luke and Margaret Murray. As noted, Luke Murray was also a native of County Roscommon. Ann and Luke's first child John Henry Murray was born in New York in 1853, so Ann must have lest Ireland sometime before 1853.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
