Hi!  I am new to this site.  I am searching for family who emigrated to Prince Edward Island in the 1830's.  One family was Patrick Smith and Margaret McPhillips, both born circa 1807/08.  They married in Ireland and had at least one son, Peter (b. 1832) who survived and made it to PEI. My gg grandfather, Patrick was born in PEI in 1848.

Patrick's parents were Daniel and Margaret and Margaret's were Peter and Bridget.  I'm not sure what parish they were from, only that they were from Monaghan.  I would love any information and have a lot to share as well!

Thanks!

I checked Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie and could not locate a baptismal record for Patrick Smith or Margaret McPhillips. Also, could not find a baptismal record for Peter Smith. Searched for a marriage record for Patrick and Margaret but got no record. Keep in mind that Roots has very few RC records going back to the early 19th century.

I also checked the Tithe Applotment listings for Daniel Smith and Peter McPhillips. I located one record for each name. I would treat these records as possible leads.

  • Thanks! I'll cross my fingers, Smith is hard to search for, McPhillips is a little less common.
