If you haven't already - You could try checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp  or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/     or the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS) https://familysearch.org/  for earlier generations of this family.

Valuations office in Dublin (http://www.valoff.ie) will have a record of the land registry from 1855 to modern times. This will assist in seeing what happened to any land the family may have had (as it usually passed on to a relation).

Civil registration records are available from the General Register Office (GRO). These start from 1864. You can access the website here: http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm

Most Catholic records are held locally - One site which might be of use is - http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/ - where you can ?browse? an overview of available records per county. If you have any difficulty, you could try writing to the parish priest for possible assistance.

Good morning!

I've just discovered this site and my great great grandfather was Patrick Murphy of Knockreagh, Inishkeen, Monaghan Ireland and he married Mary Woods. My Great-Grandfather emigrated to England and from there, my grandfather and most of his family eventualy made their way to Pennsylvania in the United States.  It's my understanding that my grandfather, Patrick, and your grandfather, Edward were brothers.
