My 2nd Great Grandparents Owen Leonard and Maria Flynn married in Ballintubber back in 1881 in March of that year. , but i want to find out if Flynn and Leonard come from Ballintubber? 

Maria was the Daughter of Margaret Madden and Patrick Flynn
Margaret and Patrick also had 

Patrick born in 1856,

Bridget and Micheal born in 1861,

Elizabeth born in 1863,

Bernard in 1864,

Anne born in 1868,

Eleanor in 1870,

Jane in 1871

and Winifred in 1873

Owen was the son of John Leonard and His Wife Maria 

any information on these guys would be brilliant as i am not doing well with these guys.

    I see a birth for Bernard Flynn 29.8.1864 at Rathlee, Ballintober, Castlerea. Father was a herd. Informant was Eliza Malley of Caraduff, sister to Pat Flynn.

    Also birth of Ellen Flynn registered in Castlerea. Birth was on 26.4.1870 at Rathinarelleigh (which I think may also be known as Rathnalulleagh). Father’s occupation shepherd.

    Looks as though Pat was moving around for work reasons.

    Ballintubber & Ballymoe RC parish records start in 1831. Have you searched them for Owen & Maria’s baptisms?

    Do you have the civil marriage record? What is the townland for the bride and groom. I think that the Leonards could be from Drumatemple civil parish based on Griffiths data.

  • Hello Roger (Im back lol!) & Elwyn. 

    Yes I do have the Civil Record of the Marriage in March 1881 and it say that they were living in Loughglynn for Owen (the Groom and Ravigue for Maria (the Bride) that the names on Rootireland. 

    Owen and Maria do move to Elphin after the Marriage and had their children there but i am trying to go backward and find their parents, siblings and even their baptism but I cannot find Owen's Baptism in Roscommon and for Maria same again as well no luck with her baptism too. 

    I never noticed the Sister of Pat thanks Elwyn i will see what i can find from her and her family
