My ancest was Timothy Bannon sometimes spelled Bannon. There is a birth recorded to he and Rose Donalan. He had a son Timothy Bannon who married Caherine O'Halloran or Halloran. There is a Timothy Bannon in the Tithe Applotments of 1824 to 1828 but nothing in the 1901 census. I believe Timothy came here.My great Grandfather was his son James Henry Bannon who married Mary Ann Costello. James became a doctor. My Grandfather in Massachusettes also was James and my mother (86) is Helen Patricia Bannon.

Any relatives out there?

Best,

Deb Shaw

  • Hi Deb,

Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone connected to the family makes a connection with you.

In the meantime, it may be an idea to contact the East Galway Family History Centre to see if they can help you trace the family past the Tithe Applotment Books. However, please note that a fee may apply. Here is their email address:

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,
