Irene:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I checked Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie and did not find any baptismal records for a William Cashin or Cashen in Co. Galway.
RC records for Co. Galway do not go back to the late 1700s with two exceptions (Galway City and Tuam).
I looked at the Tithe Applotment listings www.titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie and found 6 Cashin entries in the 1820s. ( I know William had left but I was looking to see where the surname was found). Three of the six were in the parish of Arranmore which I presume is Inishmore, the largest of the Aran Islands. You can do a search and see the 6 records.
Let me know if you have any questions and enjoy your trip to Ireland.

Thanks very much Roger, really appreciate you checking on him. Looking forward to my trip to the National Archives first.
