I am trying to find information about my grandmother, Annie Griffin, born circa 1873, and her family in Ireland.
She was married in Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia in 1896 to William Alexander Forbes, and died in Brisbane, Australia, 1938.
These certificates list her birth location as Galway, Ireland, and her parents as Patrick Griffin and Mary O'Brien.
We have been able to trace her in Australia, but unable to find any details of her passage from Ireland or her Irish family. She may have come out as a house servant, so perhaps wouldn't have been listed.
Through researching census records, we have found one possible Griffin family in Ballymoe that might fit with our dates, and I am hoping this website might lead to confirming her birth records and details of her family.
Link to possible 1901 census record: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Galway/Ballymoe/Cloonadarragh/1381436/
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

9 and 357)I looked at www.findmypast.ie (which is a subscription site) for civil birth index records for Anne Griffin. There were none for 1873 but two for 1872. One of the two was in the Glennamaddy registration district which corresponds to the 1901 census record that you attached above. That family lived in the Glennamaddy registration district. The index reocrd is below. To get a copy of the birth record, you have to contact the GRO. www.groireland,ie The web site is currently having a problem and you can't print the form to get a birth record copy. Once the site is working, you need to fill out the form and ask for a copy. Also provide the year of birth, registration district and the volume and page number ( 9 and 357). A copy costs around 4 euros. You can also ask them to e-mail the copy to you.

Hi Roger,
Thank you for doing that search. I really appreciate your help, and have filled in the GRO form to send off tomorrow.
There is one other record I have found that may be also linked to my grandmother.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FPT5-VS4 (no first name, but listed as female, and the date is still within range)
Through the same website, I have found another two females to the same parents.
Bridget: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F55Z-YLG
Catherine: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FP4C-QVW
We havent been able to find this family group together in any of the census records, so this will most likely be a different family to the one in the census record I mentioned previously. I was wondering whether you would be able to look them up for me as well, to find the Year, Volume and Page number, mainly of the first un-named female?
Perhaps when I have both registration copies in front of me, I may be able to work out which record is the one I am searching for. :)
Thanks again!

Letter More is in the Oughterard registration district which is in Connemara. I found one 1865 Bridget Griffin record and one 1867 Catherine Griffin record. Hope these are the correct records. Surprisingly, I found two 1870 female Griffin records.I didn't think the government would register a birth without name.
